The Ross and Ross-Konno Operation in Neonates and Infants

چکیده

When replacement of the aortic valve in neonates and infants is required, Ross-Konno procedure provides a high-quality left ventricular outflow with good mid-term durability. The procedural outcome highly dependent on pre-procedural condition neonate or infant. Most series contain substantial numbers post-balloon valvotomy patients as emergent urgent management severe, acute regurgitation. In compromised function, post-operative mechanical support may be required but generally associated outcome. neonatal infant autograft perform better long term than un-supported autografts performed later life. Early definitive delayed treatment tract pathology interruption increasingly involves an Ross-Konno. also has role recruitment small ventricles. Concomitant mitral obstruction magnifies complexity, operative approach to remains same. Central MessageWhen

Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction after Ross-Konno Operation

INTRODUCTION: SAM (systolic anterior motion) is defined as the dynamic motion of the anterior mitral valve leaflet to the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) during systole. In this study, we present a case which we encountered with significant left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) related to SAM and developed after Ross-Konno operation. METHOD: A 4-month, 6.2 kg girl underwent b...

The Ross operation in infants and children, when and how?

The Ross operation is the only operation which guarantees long-term survival of the aortic valve substitute, and allows it to reproduce some of the extremely sophisticated functions of the normal living aortic valve. This has been shown to translate into longer survival and better quality of life in adults. The operation was described almost 50 years ago, primarily for use in growing children, ...

The Ross operation.

Both congenital and acquired aortic valve defects represent an important group of diseases in pediatric patients. Since the defects –in form of stenosis, insufficiency or mixedmay finally cause a loss of ventricular function and mean a big load for the heart muscle, an interventional or surgical therapy is required. Although there are various alternatives of treatment, none of these is really s...

Rescue circumflex artery stenting for major right ventricular dysfunction after Ross-Konno operation.

A single coronary artery is an anomaly in which only 1 coronary artery arises from the aortic root, supplying the entire heart. We report the case of a 5-year-old girl in whom a single coronary artery ostium was discovered during a Ross-Konno operation. This patient required extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for postoperative right ventricular infarction due to proximal stenosis of a dominant...

Ross operation: 16-year experience.

OBJECTIVE We performed a review of a consecutive series of 487 patients undergoing the Ross operation to identify surgical techniques and clinical parameters that affect outcome. METHODS We performed a prospective review of consecutive patients from August 1986 through June 2002 and follow-up through August 2004. Patient age was 2 days to 62 years (median, 24 years), and 197 patients were les...
